Sometime between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., I was overcome with an overwhelming desire to purchase a pair of suede, over the knee boots similar to the ones Olivia Palermo wore for a photo shoot in New York City last year. I had a very particular image of what I wanted in my mind, and the only thing standing between myself and these boots (besides money) was the correct combination of Google search terms.
I knew I didn't want a really high heel or something too dressy. I wanted a pair of boots that would be able to transition from day to night and possibly back to day (amirite, ladies?). I wanted them to be fitted, be able to walk around all day in if necessary, and most importantly, be comfortable. The last requirement immediately eliminated a good portion of boots that are less than $50. Price doesn't always correlate to quality but on the same note, you get what you pay for.
Olivia Palermo's boots are made by Stuart Weitzman, the closest ones to the pair in the picture being the 'Highland' boot. I love the height of the heel and the slim 14" circumference of the boot but at $795 they're a little out of my price range and being 5"2, I'm pretty sure the 24-inch shaft would come up to the very top of my thigh.
My next contender was the Sam Edelman 'Kayla' boot which is a much more reasonable $285.
Unfortunately, the price is the only thing I really like about this boot. The heel is too high for me to reasonably be able to stomp all over town in, and the boot, despite having a 14.5" circumference, looks loose and baggy. I also hate boots that have seams along the ankle.
And just when I thought all hope was lost, I came across the Bannari boots on Aldo which met all of my requirements. Originally $250, they are currently on sale for $125. Aldo shoes aren’t made of the highest quality materials but they’re perfect to wear tirelessly and beat up without feeling bad about damaging. I’m loving the gray, as well, as they’re the perfect shade for spring but I figured I’d wait to see how the black pair fit first. Sign up for Aldo’s e-mails (which you can always unsubscribe later) to get an additional 10% off.
Olivia Palermo’s monogrammed, cashmere blanket poncho (which was Fall 2014’s must have piece) is no longer available as it’s from Burberry’s AW 2014 collection but you can find the dark grey check pattern on Burberry.com for $1,395. You can even get it monogrammed for a small additional fee of $300. Or check out these inspired styles:

It was a family affair at Victoria Beckham's Fall 2015 RTW fashion show on Sunday morning as David Beckham sat front row with their four children — Brooklyn, Cruz, Romeo, and Harper — alongside Anna Wintour and her own daughter Bee Shaffer.
"I love having them here," the designer told USA Today following her intimate show at Cipriani Wall Street. "They're so supportive of what I do, we all support each other."
From oversized shearling coats, chunky oversized sweaters with puffed sleeves, to slitted knit dresses and swaths of cashmere, the styling of the show was undoubtedly Beckham – sleek, minimal, and structured.

My best friend Stella knows I’m obsessed with everything mermaid and the color teal; mermaid items in teal are even better. This is a girl who bought me my own mermaid swimsuit for my birthday last year. She sent me a link to an iPhone case she knew I needed in my life, and I now need to purchase everything in this print.
Based in Santa Monica, California, and founded in 2009, Society6 gives artists the opportunity to sell their artwork as a variety of products, without giving up control of their rights. The artwork on Society6 is created by hundreds of thousands of artists from around the world. They have an incredible selection of prints available in iPhone cases, throw pillows, t-shirts, mugs, and numerous other items.
Here are a few of my favorites:
Harry Belafonte, Rosario Dawson, and Patrick Demarchelier were honored at the amfAR New York Gala at Cipriani Wall Street on February 11. The annual black-tie benefit serves as the official kick-off to New York Fashion Week and honors individuals who have made exceptional contributions to amfAR and the fight against AIDS. The event raised more than $2 million for amfAR’s AIDS research programs.
Sometimes when I’m perusing high-end, retail websites such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Net-a-Porter, I like to select the ‘Price: High to Low’ option from the ‘Sort by’ drop-down menu. Not only because I want to see the most expensive, lustworthy pieces and decide which items I would buy — the same way I like to spend unhealthy amounts of time deciding how I would allocate my multi-million dollar winnings from the lottery ticket I never bought — but because I wonder who out there chooses this option automatically the way I choose ‘Price: Low to High’ or ‘Sort by Sale.’
From high to low prices, behold an assortment of gorgeous and unreal, masterpieces of art.

In anticipation of its live-action film, Cinderella, starring Cate Blanchett and Lily James, Disney recently asked nine fashion designers to create their own interpretation of the iconic glass slipper. This official Disney collaboration will be sold in shops around the world, including Saks Fifth Avenue in New York and Beverly Hills, Harrods in London, Galeries Lafayette in Paris, Excelsior Milano in Milan, Tsum in Mosco, Isetan Shinjuku in Tokyo, and The Dubai Mall in Dubai.
Disney tapped designers, in alphabetical order, Paul Andrew, Alexandre Birman, René Caovilla, Jimmy Choo, Salvatore Ferragamo, Nicholas Kirkwood, Charlotte Olympia, Jerome C. Rousseau, and Stuart Weitzman to design their own take of Cinderella’s famed glass slipper.
“Cinderella’s glass slipper has become a magical symbol of transformation,” said Jonathan Symington, vice president and general manager, licensing, Disney Entertainment at Disney Consumer Products. “Each pair of shoes in this exciting global collection captures Cinderella’s elegance and grace through the lens of celebrated designers, making this shoe collection truly fit for a princess.”
Swarovski, which produced the iconic glass slipper for the film, provided the crystals featured in the designers’ shoes.
This limited edition collection will hit stores in March in line with Cinderella’s March 13 release date.
1. Paul Andrew: “Cinderella's glass slipper represents every woman's dream shoe. The story, being a classic, inspired me to use my iconic pointed toe silhouette, which I embellished with an array of hand encrusted Swarovski crystals to create the ultimate fantasy shoe. I used transparent PVC to create a 'glass' effect and ivory suede for luxurious texture and dimension.”
2. Alexandre Birman: “My vision of the glass slipper was inspired by the timeless and feminine beauty that I believe Cinderella and the Alexandre Birman brand both share. I reinterpreted our classic Johanna pump, this time giving it a fashionable and romantic twist with satin and Swarovski crystals. It’s a shoe I imagine a modern princess would wear.”
3. René Caovilla: “‘Works of arts called shoes’ to grant wishes and raise emotions. Passion and never ending research don’t draw the line at fantasy and creativity. This is how dreams come true in our fairy tale.”
4. Jimmy Choo: “I think every girl desires a Cinderella moment in their lives. This story ignites a love affair and fascination with shoes that never dies. The power they have to transform is instilled from a young age and the fantasy remains alive forever. I wanted to create a shoe that felt magical, with alluring sparkle and a feminine, timeless silhouette evoking those childhood emotions.” - Sandra Choi, Creative Director
5. Salvatore Ferragamo: “The magic of a shoe that turns a woman into a princess and gives her the feeling of walking on clouds is a universal dream. A modern Cinderella fairy tale of rediscovering a soft sensuality and a powerful femininity. A shoe made of transparency and light: the cage heel, an iconic symbol of Salvatore Ferragamo, is covered with Swarovski crystals and is transformed by sparkling impalpability.” - Massimiliano Giornetti, Creative Director
6. Nicholas Kirkwood: “Cinderella has both delicate and strong qualities as a character. The moment of transformation emphasizes both and gave me the design inspiration to create a piece that spoke to the film’s magic.”
7. Charlotte Olympia: “I am delighted and honoured to be invited by Disney to design one of the most iconic shoes in history. It was such a pleasure to create my version of Cinderella’s glass slipper which I have aptly named If the Shoe Fits. This transparent platform shoe made with my signature PVC & perspex materials is adorned with star and crystal detailing as befits any princess.”
8. Jerome C. Rousseau: “The stroke of midnight is a wonderful element of the Cinderella fairytale, it adds tension and intensity to the story. I was inspired by that when I designed this style for Cinderella and the result is a dramatic midnight-blue glitter sandal on a sky-high heel. The clear strap is reminiscent of the crystal slipper, while the refined gold and silver trims add the right amount of whimsy to the design. I wanted to create something that, if left behind, the Prince would feel even more captivated by Cinderella’s allure.”
9. Stuart Weitzman: “Cinderella in 2015 has a timeless appeal. The diamond and translucent bootie enhance the vision I have of her.”
While there have been numerous adaptations of Shakespeare’s timeless tale of forbidden love, vengeance, and tragedy, none compare to Baz Lurhmann’s modern adaptation of the play in his 1996 film, Romeo + Juliet. Starring then 21-year-old Leonardo DiCaprio and 17-year-old Claire Danes, the film is vivid, explosive, and image intensive in true Baz Luhrmann form.
Luhrmann’s kaleidoscopic film adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet" is brilliant and enrapturing; appealing to your visual senses, while Shakespearean drama, in contrast, was written to be heard as an auditory experience. DiCaprio and Danes are captivating together, speaking the verse naturally and delivering magnetic performances with their palpable chemistry. Luhrmann’s reimagining is magical and dazzling and nearly 20 years later since it’s release, Romeo + Juliet remains a masterpiece and one of my favorite films.
