Covet Her Look » Olivia Palermo

Sometime between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., I was overcome with an overwhelming desire to purchase a pair of suede, over the knee boots similar to the ones Olivia Palermo wore for a photo shoot in New York City last year. I had a very particular image of what I wanted in my mind, and the only thing standing between myself and these boots (besides money) was the correct combination of Google search terms.

I knew I didn't want a really high heel or something too dressy. I wanted a pair of boots that would be able to transition from day to night and possibly back to day (amirite, ladies?). I wanted them to be fitted, be able to walk around all day in if necessary, and most importantly, be comfortable. The last requirement immediately eliminated a good portion of boots that are less than $50. Price doesn't always correlate to quality but on the same note, you get what you pay for.

Olivia Palermo's boots are made by Stuart Weitzman, the closest ones to the pair in the picture being the 'Highland' boot. I love the height of the heel and the slim 14" circumference of the boot but at $795 they're a little out of my price range and being 5"2, I'm pretty sure the 24-inch shaft would come up to the very top of my thigh.

My next contender was the Sam Edelman 'Kayla' boot which is a much more reasonable $285.

Unfortunately, the price is the only thing I really like about this boot. The heel is too high for me to reasonably be able to stomp all over town in, and the boot, despite having a 14.5" circumference, looks loose and baggy. I also hate boots that have seams along the ankle.

And just when I thought all hope was lost, I came across the Bannari boots on Aldo which met all of my requirements. Originally $250, they are currently on sale for $125. Aldo shoes aren’t made of the highest quality materials but they’re perfect to wear tirelessly and beat up without feeling bad about damaging. I’m loving the gray, as well, as they’re the perfect shade for spring but I figured I’d wait to see how the black pair fit first. Olivia Palermo’s monogrammed, cashmere blanket poncho (which was Fall 2014’s must have piece) is no longer available as it’s from Burberry’s AW 2014 collection but you can find the dark grey check pattern on Burberry.com for $1,395. You can even get it monogrammed for a small additional fee of $300. Or check out these inspired styles:
