Chanel Paris-Salzburg 2014/15 Métiers d’Art Collection

April 02, 2015 by Young K.

Chanel’s pre-fall Métiers d’Art Collection showcases the talents of the house-owned firms that specialize in certain crafts, such as the glove makers, milliners, and feather-ers. The focus of the Austrian-inspired Paris-Salzburg 2014/15 Métiers d’Art Collection show was on embroidery from Lesage, Desrues buttons, feathers and flowers from Lemarié, shoes from Massaro, and Causse gloves. While the show was originally shown in Salzburg, Austria last December, the house restaged the show at Park Avenue Armory in New York on Tuesday night for an exclusive, by invite only audience.

Karl Lagerfeld Brings Chanel's Salzburg to New York

April 02, 2015 by Young K.

Chanel restaged its Paris-Salzburg 2014/15 Métiers d’Art Collection — which was originally shown in Salzburg last December — in New York City on Tuesday night and it was nothing short of spectacular. Park Avenue Armory was transformed into a modern version of the rococo palace Schloss Leopoldskron with gilded walls, plush sofas, and velvet chairs as Austrian-inspired designs took to the runway. The pre-fall Métiers d’Art Collection showcases the talents of the house-owned firms that specialize in certain crafts, such as the glove makers, milliners, and feather-ers. The focus of this show was on embroidery from Lesage, Desrues buttons, feathers and flowers from Lemarié, shoes from Massaro, and Causse gloves.

Cara Delevingne and Pharrell Williams performed ‘CC The World,’ the song featured in the short film, Reincarnation, directed by Lagerfeld to accompany the Paris-Salzburg 2014/15 Métiers d'Art Collection. The short film tells the story of Coco Chanel vacationing in Salzburg, Austria in 1954, when she crosses paths with a lift-boy at her hotel, whose jacket would later inspire the iconic Chanel jacket.

Soo Joo Park Is L'Oréal's First Asian-American Spokesmodel

March 31, 2015 by Young K.

Internationally renowned Korean-American model Soo Joo Park signed a two-year contract as the first Asian-American spokesmodel for the international cosmetics giant L’Oréal Paris. Park, who most recently walked for Moschino and Chanel, joins a diverse and beautiful cadre of spokeswomen that includes Frieda Pinto, Karlie Kloss, Naomi Watts, Jennifer Lopez, and Eva Longoria.

About her new role as the face and spokesperson for L’Oreal, Park told Style.com, “The thing is that I’m Asian, but I’m also Asian-American. And I think growing up in America and having a multicultural background, you know where you stand but you also want to melt into the pot. It’s such an honor, but I also think the world is getting smaller and the globalization of commerce is influencing industries like beauty and fashion. So to be the first to represent a global brand is a huge honor. But I don’t want to be just that one thing; I want to be the global ambassador.”

Park started modeling at the age of 26—old by industry standards where rookies tend to be teenagers—after she graduated from Berkeley and was discovered while vintage shopping. Now, at 28, and having reached the modeling stratosphere, there’s nothing stopping this gorgeous Californian from global domination.

Chanel Spring 2015 Couture Show

January 27, 2015 by Young K. in Fashion

While Winter Storm Juno pounded locations from Long Island to New England with moderate to heavy snow, high winds, and coastal flooding for much of Tuesday morning, attendees at Chanel’s Spring 2015 Couture show in Paris were transported to a lush, tropical garden party.

According to Style.com, it took six months to make the 300 flowers that decorated the Chanel set. Dresses, skirts, and beanies adorned with silk flower appliqués floated down the runway. Let’s not forget these clothes are produced by hand – les petites mains, as the atelier workers are known at couture – and take hundreds of hours to produce.

Perfection.
