Man Accused of Raping 100 Women During Fake Sleep Study

February 05, 2015 by Young K.

Japanese authorities have arrested a 54-year-old man who drugged and raped dozens of women under the guise of conducting a sleep study. Hideyuki Noguchi placed ads looking for participants, specifically women in their teens to their 40s, for "clinical research measuring blood pressure during sleep," the AFP reports.

Noguchi is said to have drugged his victims after luring them to hotels and resorts across Japan under scientific pretenses. He would record himself drugging and raping them, and then sell the videos of the encounters to porn websites. He told police he made around $100,000 in profits.

Authorities arrested Noguchi after one of his victims found a video of her assault online. Police have confirmed 39 victims, but according to CNN, Noguchi has admitted to have assaulted close to 100 women. He faces charges of incapacitated rape in more than three dozen cases.
