Watch Meryl Streep Sing A Deleted Song From 'Into The Woods'

March 02, 2015 by Young K. in Movies

Couldn’t get enough of Meryl Streep as the Witch in Into The Woods? Neither could I. In a new clip, director Rob Marshall introduces "She'll Be Back," an original song Stephen Sondheim penned exclusively for Meryl Streep's character in the film.

Marshall introduces the musical number in the clip and explains that the choice to delete it was a mutual decision between himself, Sondheim, Lapine, and Streep herself, after they "realized the film was stronger without it. And so, we made a very difficult decision to let it go."

The song was written to express the Witch’s embittered feelings after Rapunzel runs off with the prince. The preview comes just ahead of Into the Woods' March 24th release on Disney Digital HD/SD, Blu-ray Combo Pack, and Disney Movies Anywhere.
