This 'The Little Prince' Trailer Will Make You Cry
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s classic novella Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince) is one of the most famous works of French literature of all time, having been sold in 145 million copies and translated in 265 languages. The Little Prince is a partially autobiographical fable about a pilot whose plane crashes in a desert, where he meets a small prince who has come to Earth as part of an adventure around the universe. Brought to life on page by the author’s watercolor illustrations, The Little Prince has been adapted countless times into a variety of different media.
The upcoming animated feature film from Kung Fu Panda director Mark Osborne features an all-star voice cast including Jeff Bridges, Rachel McAdams, James Franco, Marion Cotillard, and Benicio Del Toro, and will world premiere at Cannes in the official selection. The film frames the classic tale with a modern day narrative in which the Aviator, now an old man, bonds with a little girl and introduces her to a magical world where anything is possible — a world that the Aviator himself was initiated into long ago by the Little Prince.
The Little Prince will be released in France on July 29. The U.S. release date will soon be confirmed.
