International Women’s Day

March 8th is International Women’s Day, and this year’s theme is “Make It Happen,” a much-needed call to focus on women’s rights issues like equal pay, racial equality, and combating against sexual violence. Feminists and supporters around the world are speaking out today, calling for an end to the existing culture of misogyny, and mobilizing all people to do their part.

In her message for International Women's Day 2015, UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka says gender parity must be reached before 2030. She calls on all countries to “step it up” for gender equality, to reach ‘Planet 50-50’ before 2030.
